Curl and thickness of lash extensions: C, CC, D, L, M and 0.05–0.10 mm explained

Two clients, the same length – and yet the set looks completely different. The reason is curl (how the extension bends) and thickness (its diameter). Here is an overview to help you choose the right combination for every client.

Curl: how strongly the extension is curved

  • C – the classic, natural curl. Opens up the eyes without looking artificial. The reliable choice for most classic sets.
  • CC – slightly more curved than C. More lift without looking dramatic straight away.
  • D – clearly curved. For an open, eye-catching look, often used for volume sets.
  • L and M – with a straight base and a bend. Helpful for straight or downward-growing natural lashes and for hooded eyelids, because the extension first goes straight forward and then upwards.

Rule of thumb: the straighter the natural lash, the more curl the extension needs to add visible lift. For a natural lash that is already strongly curved, C is often enough.

Thickness: how thick the extension is

  • 0.10 mm – for classic (1:1). Gives a defined, “mascara” effect.
  • 0.07 mm – versatile: for light classic sets, hybrid sets and small volume fans.
  • 0.05 mm – very fine, for volume fans with several extensions per natural lash.

Important for the health of the natural lashes: choose the thickness and length so that the natural lash can carry the weight well. Fine, short natural lashes cannot handle heavy extensions.

  • Natural classic set: C curl, 0.10 mm.
  • Light classic or hybrid set: C or CC, 0.07 mm.
  • Volume with lift: CC or D, 0.05 mm (handmade or with Easy Fan).
  • Hooded eyelids or straight natural lashes: L or M.
